I trained from when I was 3 in Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and Modern Jazz at The Lorraine Day School of Dance. I went onto study BA(hons) Ballet Education at The Royal Academy of Dance after being inspired by being part of the Urdang Associates. This allowed me to perform and train, but also get experience of teaching a range of ages and styles. This was followed by a PGCE in Dance Education also at The Royal Academy of Dance to ensure I was qualified in teaching GCSE & A Level Dance, something that I’d love to introduce to the dancers at MPA.
I read and write Benesh Dance Notation allowing me to read and write dance repertoire, and double check the RAD syllabus which is notated in the syllabus books. I am a teacher of the International Dance Teachers Association & Royal Academy of Dance allowing me to enter students for exams in various Dance styles.
I performed from an early age in Pantomime and Dance competitions, more recently I was part of the 2012 Olympic Games Closing ceremony dancing with Darcy Bussell and members of an auditioned cast. I also performed a pointe duet and Jazz group in the Lorraine Day reunion Showcase 2014 and Dance medley for Lift Off 2015. In addition I was rehearsal director for dancers taking part in The Freedom Game, celebrating the anniversary of the Magna Carta hosted at The Royal Albert Hall.
I recently took my Mat level 1 Pilates course with Balanced Body, soon to be followed up by Mat 2. This is something that supplements the training of a dancer, but also allows all to access a form of fitness. I’m looking to study a Masters in the relationship between Dance and Elderly Care, in the meantime my aim is to do my own research through practice, and get published in my research and observation article.
I’m excited to join MPA to enthuse the next generation of dancers. I look forward to seeing what the MPAS students have to offer!
